Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute staff and leaders helped lead development of state plan
The new Wisconsin State Dementia Plan is a collaborative effort involving partners across the state of Wisconsin, designed to provide a road map to help Wisconsin improve the quality of life for thousands of families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Members of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute worked on the statewide collaboration of partners to help draft the plan and will work to implement its strategies. Cynthia Carlsson, MD, MS and Art Walaszek, MD, participated on the Wisconsin State Dementia Plan steering committee and Nia Norris, PhD, and Stephanie Houston, MBA, worked on leadership teams of priority areas.
Key priority areas of the 2024-2028 State Dementia Plan are:
- Public Education and Community Support
- Professional Development and Workforce
- Coordinated Care
- Data and Research
- Policy and Advocacy
- BOLD Grant Goals and Strategies
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced the plan in May, 2024. Read about its history and strategy and download the entire plan at dhswisconsin.gov.
