Goals scored by the Wisconsin men’s and women’s hockey teams this year will not only help them win more games, but will also help raise money to support important Alzheimer’s disease research and treatment at the University of Wisconsin.
For every goal scored this season by the Wisconsin men’s and women’s hockey teams, select iHeartRadio sponsors will pledge $10 to the UW Initiative to End Alzheimer’s, which is the fundraising branch of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute and the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
The vision of the Initiative to End Alzheimer’s is to improve early and accurate diagnosis, treatment and care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, according to Dr. Cindy Carlsson, director of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute.
“Every 65 seconds someone in the United States will develop Alzheimer’s disease,” she said. “Every dollar matters, and we hope this is a successful hockey season on and off the ice.”
