Sterling Johnson, PhD, has been awarded a Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorship, an appointment given to extraordinary members of the University of Wisconsin–Madison faculty. The award provides five years of flexible funding and recognize distinguished scholarship as well as standout efforts in teaching and service.
Johnson is associate director of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute, associate director and Biomarker Core leader in the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, and Principal Investigator of the Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer’s Prevention.
About the Vilas professorships and awards: The awards are supported by the estate of professor, U.S. senator and UW Regent William F. Vilas (1840-1908). Funds from the Vilas Trust are made available to assist in research and scholarly activities. They are among the most prestigious awards granted by the university.
