Thank you WTMJ for reporting on disparities in dementia and the burden African Americans face in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. A December 18, 2020 education program discussed the disparities in dementia, why African Americans face higher rates of Alzheimer’s disease, and strategies for addressing the disparities.
“Why are African Americans so overburdened by disease disparities?” Gina Green-Harris, Director of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute Regional Milwaukee Office said. “These are risk factors that go with social determinants of health and go to morbidity.” Watch the WTMJ news report:
