You likely recognize sportscaster Matt LePay’s voice as the announcer of UW Badgers basketball and football games for more than 25 years. LePay is also lending his voice to support Alzheimer’s disease research at UW, where he helps spread the word about the race for a cure to Alzheimer’s disease and the impact Alzheimer’s disease and dementia have on families. LePay’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and passed away in 2017.
LePay shared his experiences and how Alzheimer’s disease affected his mother in a recent interview with NBC15.
Watch now: LePay describes his family’s Alzheimer’s journey on NBC15.
Nathaniel Chin, MD, Medical Services Director of Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, is also interviewed in the segment about his father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Both LePay and Dr. Chin are ambassadors of the Initiative to End Alzheimer’s.
LePay also recorded a series of Public Service Announcements for the initiative. We are grateful for his willingness to share his experiences and his commitment to helping spread awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and the importance of research.
