Senior Health Center

Center provides comprehensive testing and evaluation by a multidisciplinary team of geriatric specialists.  Care focuses on health problems and concerns of seniors with special emphasis on memory loss and other mental health concerns.

In one appointment, the patient meets with a team of medical experts during which the patient will have the opportunity to discuss his/her health concerns in a comfortable, relaxed setting.  Areas often addressed include:

  • Adjustment to changes brought on by aging
  • Driving and safety concerns
  • Daily living activities (bathing, dressing, etc.)
  • Psychosocial or behavioral changes
  • Memory loss
  • Medications
  • Mood changes
  • Nutrition and exercise

The Senior Health Center team will discuss findings and recommendations with the patient.  These can include treatment options, community resource referrals, education and housing advice.

This clinic is a member of the WAI-Affiliated Dementia Diagnostic Clinic Network. Network clinics differ from other memory clinics in that their staff have received training/observation time and/or guidance from the WAI and the UW Health Memory Assessment Clinic. In addition, clinic network staff attend the WAI's annual conference and bi-annual clinic network meetings, which provide up-to-date research and disease management information. Clinics in the network do remain autonomous, but follow a set of guidelines.
