Many older adults or those close to them worry about signs of memory loss. The Geriatric Memory Disorders clinic offers comprehensive assessments by a board-certified geriatrician and an advanced practice nurse. Consultation with a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist is also available.

Clinic offers:

• Evaluation to determine possible causes of memory loss or diminished cognitive functioning
• Cognitive and depression screening
• Best practices and state-of-the-art technologies in diagnosis and management of memory disorders
• Evaluation of self-care abilities
• Continuing follow-up care to monitor progress over time
• Medication management to delay progression of symptoms
• Ongoing care in collaboration with the patient's personal physician
• Assistance to patients and their families in developing future plans
• Information about clinical trials investigating newer treatments
• Caregiver support group
• Alzheimer's Dementia Basics
• Consultation with board-certified psychiatrists

This clinic is a member of the WAI-Affiliated Dementia Diagnostic Clinic Network. Network clinics differ from other memory clinics in that their staff have received training/observation time and/or guidance from the WAI and the UW Health Memory Assessment Clinic. In addition, clinic network staff attend the WAI's annual conference and bi-annual clinic network meetings, which provide up-to-date research and disease management information. Clinics in the network do remain autonomous, but follow a set of guidelines.
